Vein
Care - Sclerotherapy
Spider Veins:
These are small thread-like veins on the surface,
often in lines or stellate. They may or may not be associated
with
varicose veins.
Treatment:
Treatment is simple with each vein or cluster being injected
with a solution through a small, fine needle. The solution
damages the vein at the site it is injected which then scars
and closes up. The spider veins will look worse before they
look better, but over a period of a couple of months will
gradually disappear. The process is not painful, a slight
sting from the injection and a bruised feeling afterwards.
Immediately following the injections, a tight compression
stocking is put on and you will be asked to have a 10 minute
walk. The stocking is worn night and day for 1 to 2 weeks.
We also ask that you try to walk for at least 45 minutes
a day.
