Varicose Vein Pain Relief & Post Treatment Care

Compression stockings (also called Varicose Vein Stockings, DVT Stockings and Travel Socks) help relieve the discomfort of varicose veins, aid in recovery after vein treatments, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and ulcers, and also diminish swelling of the lower legs.

Compression stockings are not recommended for people with poor circulation caused by arterial problems. If unsure, please call for appointment with Dr Elisabeth for advice.

Support & Comfort for Varicose Veins

There is a huge variety of compression and support stockings available today so there will be a style or brand to suit you. If you have obvious varicose veins but are cannot or are reluctant to have treatment, then stockings are a good option, but probably thigh high ones should be worn, unless otherwise advised.

If swelling is the problem, the stockings help stop the excess fluid from collecting in the tissues, provided they are put on when getting out of bed, and taken off when going back to bed.

Compression stockings and socks are particularly beneficial for those who spend long days on their feet.

They mostly look just like normal socks or stockings.

After Vein Treatment

Compression stockings are an integral part of any vein treatment and need to be worn for at least 1 week following treatment – often 2 or more.
